Sharon is our resident hair expert; you will probably notice that her hair always looks fantastic. Here are Sharon’s top tips:

One of the best ways to keep your hair looking fabulous during the summer is to go ‘au naturel’, in other words, embrace your hair’s natural texture. Whether you have straight, wavy, or curly hair, let it air dry for a low-maintenance and natural look. Use lightweight styling products like sea salt sprays or leave-in conditioners to enhance your natural texture without weighing your hair down.

The next step is to add a stylish hair accessory, whether you want to scoop your hair up to keep cool or style it out for the evening, we have a beautiful range of hair accessories in the latest pastel shades.

Messy Bun

Perfect for a casual day out or a lazy beach day. Gather your hair into a high ponytail, twist it around to form a bun, and secure with bobby pins. Pull out a few strands for a relaxed, effortless look.

Scrunchies

Scrunchies have made a comeback. These fabric-covered elastic bands are typically made with soft, smooth materials that can be gentler on the hair, potentially minimising friction and tension, which can help reduce damage.

Claw Clips

Claw clips feature a hinged design with teeth that grip and secure hair. They are also referred to as butterfly clips. Claw clips are easy to use, come in a variety of sizes and are guaranteed to keep you looking cool and stylish in the summer.

Pretty Hair Clips

These versatile accessories come in various shapes and designs. Use them to pin back your fringe, secure side parts, or as a decorative touch.

Beak Clips

Beak clips are the unsung heroes of the hairstyling world. These versatile little tools are a must-have in any hair styling collection, serving various purposes from sectioning your hair to creating intricate hairstyles.

Auds Kitchen Fruit Scones Recipe

National Cream Tea Day on 27th June must be up there with the best national food days we have in the UK (in my opinion)! It’s the perfect excuse for indulging in naughty but nice treats and the inspiration for this month’s recipe, ‘Afternoon Tea Fruit Scones’.

I have tried many different recipes for scones over the years, and this is my own version, a mixture of a few different recipes combined through trial and error. I believe the key to successful scones is a light touch and not over-handling the dough.

Did you know … buttermilk is used in baking because its acidity reacts with the baking powder, creating a chemical reaction (production of carbon dioxide gas) that helps baked goods rise and achieve a lighter, fluffier texture. So don’t let the ingredient ‘buttermilk’ put you off and give it a go!
