I’ve always thought there was something uniquely charming about this giftware from Keith Brymer Jones. Each one is the work of Keith himself where he is Head of Design at MAKE International.
Keith continues to throw every original shape in all of his ceramic range produced by MAKE on his potter’s wheel at his studio, which is in a converted bakery in Whitstable, Kent.
A born and bred Londoner and a potter by trade.
The company’s ethos is to create items that are practical, high-quality and stylish; Keith’s style is instantly recognisable in the diminutive, pure white designs, and their practical aspects are summed up by short, simple words you’ll find printed on each one. I have a particular soft spot for the little hints of personality about them, with little greetings like ‘Good Morning!’ giving them that sweet touch of being just for you.
Keith’s experience of creating high-quality cookware goes back over 20 years. He started at the humble age of 18, gradually honing his skills over the course of a decade before he joined forces with MAKE’s Director Dominic Speelman in 2008. The company has been going strong ever since, creating designs that are the very definition of style in simplicity.
You may well recognise Keith as one of the judges from the BBC2 series ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’!
