hippo birthday! A beautiful handmade card with the cutest hippo drawing topped off with a special pink pencil shaving party hat. The happy hippopotamus splashing round with his fishy friends in a little lake and the burning sunshine wishes the recipient a very hippo birthday.

This card came to life in the little town Poole, Dorset. Ruth Jackson had a passion for drawing and painting inspired by seaside life which was all around her, she was always looking for new ideas. Paintings soon turned to greeting cards and the range just kept expanding. Then one day, on her mummy duties for her 8 year old she noticed a hell of a lot of blunt pencils, the day before a new term! After preparing her son for his first day back she took a look at her kitchen table and noticed a sea of colourful, and rather beautiful pencil shavings. A moment of inspiration struck, scissors and glue in hand, the first pencil shaving card was born. And that was it, now Ruth’s fantastically unique cards are one of our favourite ranges at Valley Living, which is why we had to also put them online. We hope you love them as much as we do.
