A Trip to Blenheim Palace

Before the December madness begins...

I always look forward to a pre-Christmas trip away, as well as managing a little product research for Valley Living I usually try to squeeze in either a little history or visit to a garden, with a recent excursion to Oxfordshire I managed all three with a lovely trip to Blenheim Palace 🙂

The Valley Living product research was easy with all the pretty Cotswolds villages nearby and then a visit to the stunning Blenheim Palace provided an amazing setting, vast amounts of history with both gardens and parkland in abundance, and with Christmas just around the corner each of the rooms was decorated with a stunning themed Christmas tree, each one different.

Birth place of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace is a monumental country house in Oxfordshire. It is the principal residence of the Dukes of Marlborough, and the only non-royal country house in England to hold the title of palace. It was built between 1705 and 1722, and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

We were staying at the very relaxing ‘Lamb Inn’ on ‘Sheep Street’ (I know a farmers daughter from Lancashire just had to book that accommodation, I couldn’t help myself !!) and it goes without saying on a bright but cold November weekend after a walk in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside the odd fireside tipple was required!

When it came to afternoon tea as a rest from ‘research’ we were spoilt for choice and that was just in Burford where we were staying, we made a fine choice with Huffkins tearoom, such a good choice with a very tempting menu…. we had to visit twice!!

Oxfordshire and all it had to offer will tempt us back again.
