Living in the Valley

Remembrance Day in the Ribble Valley

A true commemoration. Today marks the 11th day of the 11th month, and like every year, the whole country shows respect and commemorates the fallen soldiers. Clitheroe, the home of Valley Living, is a special example of this. Last year, the Ribble Valley Borough Council acknowledged this day in a truly special way. If you have followed us on social media for a while you may have seen the touching memorial, but if not you can take a look below.

A beautiful large red poppy was projected onto Clitheroe Castle, originally marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, they certainly succeeded in doing something special! It seems to have been so effective that the council have made it an annual memorial.

Starting from last Friday, the projected red poppy will be displayed on the castle until tomorrow’s sunrise (Tuesday 12th) and can be seen from miles around. If you in the Ribble Valley area, be sure to see if you can spot it!
